Found the shifting problem with my Z50 purchase
Project Update: Check out the full engine rebuild video here.
Year, Make, Model
1989 Honda Z50R that I just purchased. You can find out more about it here.
Service Manual
Check this post out for Z50 service manuals.
Symptoms
I have never heard this bike run, so I can’t comment on the symptoms. However, the lever stopper arm was bent and hitting the primary drive gear, making a grinding noise. Also, since the lever arm was not engaged with the star shaped plate, the bike had to been jumping out of gear and/or have shifting problems.
Diagnosis
I found the lever stopper arm cracked and bent. This caused interference between the arm and primary drive gear.
Some Parts Came In
Most of the parts came in and the rest should be here first week of January. I hope to have this bike up and running by the end of the month. Update: check out full engine rebuild/first fire up here.

Dear Team
I live in the U.K. and am a fan of your channel, I have just bought a 2019 Tao Tao 125cc ATV, its Automatic transmission with drive and reverse, can you tell me please what the lever stopper is called and I wish to fit a genuine Honda one,is this possible and if so what model Honda would fit?
I’m not sure sorry. Try tbolt usa or fast 50’s.
