New TIG Welder! Primeweld TIG225X

TIG welding aluminum and stainless is something that I have always wanted to learn. I also have some upcoming projects that will require me to do so. I’m super excited to put in the time and to learn how to use this machine properly and get GOOD at welding. So in the video above, I quickly unbox, setup, and lay a couple of beads down with the Primeweld TIG225X.

Now, there are quite a few TIG welders in the sub $1k range, and here are the features that make the Primeweld TIG 225X unit stand out:

  • Genuine CK17 flex torch
  • AC/DC TIG functions
  • AC balance
  • AC frequency
  • Pre & post flow
  • 2T & 4T
  • 100% duty cycle @155A / 40% duty cycle @225A
  • Pulse
  • 3 year warranty
  • Excellent customer service
  • Great community of users on Facebook

The unit came very well packed and setup was a breeze. It came with a manual for the machine, and another for the torch. Both manuals had clear illustrations on hookup, and I was ready to lay my first bead 20 minutes after opening the box.

I’ve TIG welded once before…..10 years ago, and it was only for a short time. So basically, I’m a total beginner. Below is probably the best aluminum weld I was able to do after 10 minutes of welding with the Primeweld TIG225X. As you can see, I need to learn more about the process and simply put in the time to get better. The local community college offers classes that I plan on taking soon.

So if you ever thought about getting into TIG welding, then consider buying the Primeweld TIG225X, you won’t be disappointed. It has all the features and power to handle all your hobbyist needs in your garage. Stay tuned for more videos on welding with this machine, I just have to play with it a little more.

  1. What cart did you opt for to mount your welder? I see it has some great cord storage.
